Food Bank Donations Coordinator

Description

The Food Bank is seeking an Advancement Coordinator – Food Bank Donations
to be responsible for the following:

·  Calling on food companies, grocery stores, distributors, restaurants
and other food related industries to increase overall food and food related
donations to Second Harvest
·  Offering professional customer service that will attract not only new,
but repetitive food donations
·  Initiating food promotions with local food companies to increase Second
Harvest Food Bank awareness and build partnerships
·  Working s a member of the Advancement team that solicits community resources,
specifically food and financial donations in support of the Food Bank.

General Responsibilities: The Food Bank Donations Coordinator has primary
responsibility for the solicitation of food and financial donations, relationships
with the food industry and all outreach efforts designed to increase the supply of
food and related products available to the agencies that Second Harvest serves.
These efforts will be in compliance with Feeding America’s guidelines, and in
cooperation with Second Harvest’s RDOs/PDOs and the agencies that it serves.
The coordinator will support Second Harvest’s mission of ending hunger through
the distribution of food and through educating and involving the public. The
coordinator will support and be involved in community awareness, fundraising,
volunteer recruitment and involving volunteers in the functions of this position.

Job Requirements

Experience


• BS or BA degree required, preferably in business, marketing, 
public relations or a related field • At least 3 years of experience in the food industry, food banking,
sales or fundraising required
Skills
•   Creative, energetic, imaginative and innovative personality
•   Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
•   Ability to negotiate with partners and suppliers, and to delegate tasks
where appropriate
•   Organized with excellent detail-oriented and multi-tasking skills
•   Highly motivated and able to work effectively under tight deadlines
•   Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
•   Outside sales/customer service skills or experience preferred (especially
within the food industry)
•   Experience in publicity, special event promotion, marketing, and/or public
relations
•   Knowledge of planning, including budgeting, cost control, goal setting, and
data compilation
•   Strong marketing and promotional skills
•   Proficiency in computing applications including e-mail, Windows and
Microsoft Office Products (specifically Word, Excel, and Power Point) required
•   Proficiency in Adobe Office Products (specifically InDesign, Photoshop, and
Illustrator), DreamWeaver, Macromedia Flash, and Internet navigation tools a
plus
•   Strong work ethic accompanied by experience in problem solving and project
management
•   Must have adequate personal transportation
•   Commitment to understanding and supporting Second Harvest’s mission;
demonstrated compassion and appreciation for hunger issues
